Commission for the Fort Worth Chorale's 60th

I loved setting the time-honored poetry of Psalm 100 for the Fort Worth Chorale’s 60 anniversary concert! It’s staggering to think about words being around for 3,000 years, spoken and sung by generations, set by composers of all kinds. Truthfully, it is a challenge to create new material when so much brilliance has already been spun into the world…in the 20th century alone, giants like William Walton, Benjamin Britten, and John Rutter have filled our ears with choral staples of the Jubilate Deo text.

On Sunday, April 16, I watched Dr. Karen Kenaston-French work magic with the orchestra and her singers. What a treat to be asked to write and to watch someone so musically elegant!
