Live from London!

It happened! An absolutely brilliant session with the VOCES8 Foundation Choir and Orchestra. I think I ended up writing just under 30 minutes of music for this recording.

First of all, Adrian Peacock was the producer and made some very smart decisions along the way. In the final movement of the triptych, there were bars of 6/4 that left too much time lapse before the next phrase, so he asked my permission to make a few of them 5/4 measures instead. It was exactly what was needed!

Secondly, it’s pretty amazing to watch friends, new and old, make sense of stuff that was in my head just weeks before. Jack Liebeck is stunning to watch under any condition, but to know he’s hearing his part intermingle with all of these other melodies and harmonies for the first time as it’s being recorded is something else.

Musica Dei is the piece I wrote at the last minute…and it worked!

Lots of lessons were learned, new connections were made, and I got to watch the coronation of King Charles with some dear friends. I hope to share some audio when it’s passed along. Until then, these photos will have to do.
